Sunshine and Snow: the last of Spring Break

The early afternoon was spent designing a draft of the front and back for new studio business cards

...as well as a little writing and reading for fun :)

In the evening, I met my new friend Zachary for pizza and a delightful jam session of hymns, folk tunes and gypsy jazz. The country drive was gorgeous too and a lovely backdrop for encouraging conversation.

After a very satisfying jam session we decided to explore a bit of historic Woodstock Square and (oh joy!!) a chocolate shop that quickly rose to my top 10 list for favorite spots in the Chicagoland area.

Sunday brought an encouraging church service and then an afternoon with time to spare away from home due to a showing. So I turned on the last few hours of an incredibly powerful book (I'm still reeling with the joy and depth of it) and set off towards those same country roads to take some pictures in the sunshine.

Eventually my book finished and ended up back at Woodstock Square. After wandering around a bit to explore the delightful little shops, I decided to read and write a while at Ethereal Confections until time to head home.

Later in the afternoon, Zachary dropped by and we had a delightful conversation about today's sermons, Taize music, T.S. Eliot, the smell of warm dirt and a good many other things.

He lent me his copy of Metaxas...happily timed with the finishing of this weekend's read.

Then it was the drive home, stunning with its backdrop of gathering clouds and "the burning edge of [dusk]"
