Getting ready for first day of teaching at RSA
Two new RSA students trying out a violin for the first time and a small Suzuki "veteran" looking on :)
Learning how to hold the bow on CSA pencils. A new violist...
...and a new violinist!
Saturday is one of my favorite days now because Daddy is home and can do things like go on trips to the hardware store and sit around after breakfast talking.
A classic Virginia Sunrise on an early Sunday morning
Monday rain and the cozy afternoon needed tea
We had almost a week of rain and took a few lovely walks through the dripping green kudzu curtains
This was Tolkien week (including hobbit day) so on the final day, we celebrated with a second breakfast of cinnamon rolls...
...some favorite scenes from the Hobbit...
...and the opening of a very (very) early Christmas present!
The Still Point Studio refreshment Station :)
One family came for a trial lesson and brought the littles along so some toys were cleaned up and brought out. That was definitely a success with the 3 year old :)
RSA Ensemble folders full of new music to play together
On the way to RSA
This seasons butterfly project nearly at its culmination
It never ceases to be a wondrous day when this happens
Week two of our new tradition: Saturday Night Pie :)
Some of the best times since I've been home have happened this month sitting around together slicing up apples and rolling out the crust and then hanging about the kitchen smelling it cook down and the coffee brewing.
One of my new students and I participated in a preconcert show at the Sandler Center for the Arts just over a week ago. After we played, we got free tickets to see the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. It was fun to recognize Dr. Wilder's son among the horns part of the way through the (very lovely) concert!
Outdoor chores
More walks and seeing the leaves begin to change
We collected berries from bushes on the way home and pressed them into ink
Lunch with cousin Kristin on Saturday and a home town southern kitchen
Saturday afternoon, Daniel and I went out to the golf course and then the lake to take some updated referee pictures and headshot for a new school ID. My favorites might be the candids in between what we actually needed. I sure do love this handsome fellow and all of the kind, deep and faithful workings of the mind and heart behind those clear blue eyes.
