In the rear-view...

Today I walked out to discover Sir Charles dressed for dinner. Inspired by Dr. Ryken Sr. perhaps?

Sunday, September 16th: Dinner and 3 episodes of North and South with the Brighams.

It was so refreshing to just live life with this dear family for an evening!

Lindsey's delicious dessert that polished off the best beef and cabbage stew I've ever tasted (Thanks Mrs. Brigham!)

I've spent some of the happiest hours of my life in those three chairs, talking and eating and laughing and, of course, drinking tea with these ladies.

Speaking of tea...

Saturday, September 14th: A night football game in the home stadium. It such a perfect fall evening and we locked out the competition pretty well as you can see :) The final score was 66-0 against a team that beat us last year.

Friday, September 13th: Friday's Symphony Orchestra Cabinet meeting was followed by pizza and a movie together at Nathan's apartment. Many new happy memories with these friends.

This picture just cracks me up...
President and Vice president vs. Business Manager and Assistant Business Manager. So many personalities in this group...and I love them all :)

This was the first morning which really felt like fall! The smell, the crispness in the air: it all called for the flavors of fall and I was more than happy to oblige.

Acorn squash with butter and brown sugar

Bacon wrapped chicken simmering away in the juice of the apples.

Hot apple juice with mulling spices

Sunday, September 9th: I finally unwrapped the parting gift from my brother Daniel and began putting it to good use. I am so excited to be learning real calligraphy at last! But first I had to test out the equipment in a letter to the giver...in the Elven script of course.

Such things must be accompanied by tea and biscuits.

Tuesday, August 27th: This was the last day before school began and with a summer sky like this a picnic seemed in order. After dinner at Adams Park, I made my way to the river for a little quiet time in the last light of the sunset.

Saturday and Sunday: August 24th and 25th: Orchestra Cabinet Retreat! I was so thankful for the opportunity to spend time getting to know each member of the cabinet better. I am truly blessed to work with these young men and women, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to begin this year!

From L to R: Rebekah, Faith. Karen, Nathan and Michael

Captain 'Merica (Justin)

Dinner! Feast in a foil is so delicious after a day of planning and hiking in the summer sun.

Sunday another brought another beautiful day.

We were able to spend the rest of the morning by the lake, journaling and reading scripture and praying together. It was a truly precious time and not one I will soon forget.

Saturday and Sunday, August 17th and 18th: The trip to Wheaton.

The beautiful hill country.

A representative of the beautiful West Virginia wildflowers.

A very friendly rest stop visitor... he let me carry him into the light and take pictures!

Thursday, August 15th: One last trip to the range with my big brother, Ben. How I miss these times with him...
Monday, August 5th: My first letter from Mithrandir. Beautiful isn't it? :)
